The VerDe platform: The verification process

Click on the icons above for a detailed process description and navigation through the BPMN model.

Process Description

The underlying BPMN model renders the verification process of the VerDe platform. The process starts when a third party (e.g., individuals, companies, HEIs) requires to verify an individual's degree.

Initially, the third party enters on the VerDe verification interface and inserts the individual's Ethereum EOA address. Searching the individual, the VerDe platform receives the individual's EOA address and subsequently triggers the VerDe smart contract, passing the individual's address as a parameter.

In turn, the smart contract (executed by the EVM) searches the individual’s address on its state. Once it is successfully found, the individual’s encrypted data are returned to the VerDe platform. VerDe decrypts and displays them to the interested third party, indicating the successful completion of the verification process. On the other hand, if the address is not found on the smart contract’s state, an error is returned to the VerDe platform indicating a verification process unsuccessful completion.
